PUTTING IT ALL TOGETHER
How do the two tie together?
Both the topics of the Bathroom Bill and the Orlando "Angels" represent a divide in our country concerning gender and sexuality. All individuals involved may have different reasons or motives for feeling the way they do, for getting as involved as they do (or don't), or for opposing a certain group of people the way they do. Religion is something that people feel represents their entire being and the meaning for their existence, thus is it extremely difficult to dissuade people from something they feel so strongly about or to get people to put aside those feelings when looking at an emotionally charged issue. Emile Durkheim, Maximilian Weber, and Karl Marx's Critical Gender Theory, all provide meaningful ways that we can make sense of the events going on around us.
