Critical Gender Theory

Derived from Karl Marx's Critical Theory, Critical Gender Theory calls into question the rules and standards within a society regarding gender and sexuality. Marx would argue that the opinions that the WBC has about the LGBTQ community are not reflections of their own thoughts or what is truly morally correct, but instead a reflection of a power structure.

Those in power - affluent, heterosexual, white men - are aware of this and use it as a means of controlling social structures. If they are able to continue to push the dialog that anything outside the realm of heteronormativity is bad then they are able to convince those they are oppressing, too, that they are wrong.

Every member of society must question the enforced regularities of their society to be able to truly understand themselves and those around them.
